Junho's Research Interests
My long-term research question is to know how the human mind be implemented by a set of equations. With functional connectivity analysis, we can obtain signal correlations between various regions of brain. However, correlations cannot offer causal relationships. Because many scientific questions necessitate a cause-effect relationship, functional connectivity may not be enough to reveal the underlying mechanisms of the brain. Dynamic causal modelling is a major method for estimating effective connectivity, which can offer causal relationships, and this technology is rapidly expanding. However, this top-down representation of the brain is not fully understood yet, and the link between micro-level neurophysiology and macro-level effective connectivity is still unclear. For now, my major interest is reducing the gap between the two areas of neuroscience by developing a multi-scale, multi-modal analysis framework.
